I signed up for Triple Play (tv + phone + internet service) and chose to buy a cable modem instead of renting one in order to save money. Comcast/xfinity provides a list of DOCIS 3, ipv3, triple tested devices that work on their system in Albany, CA and they sell modems too. BUT....THEY DO NOT SELL A MODEM WITH BOTH ETHERNET AND EMTA (telephony) PORTS WHICH ARE REQUIRED FOR TRIPLE PLAY SERVICE. Is that stupid or what? Like, we sell hamburgers but no buns. This is typical poor Comcast/xfinity service. I finally got them to confirm which cable modems on their list work with Triple Play. Now, I am hunting for a new cable modem from Cisco or Arris which is proving to be a nightmare. Is this a scam or their usual incompetence? Stay tuned.
