I've had issues for the last two months with all the above listed things(since early June). I'm currently located in Santa Cruz, CA and I've run dozens of ping tests resulting in constant packet loss. As a result I'll be playing a game normally, ping around 20-50, then suddenly it spikes to over 1000 and I can take no action for several seconds. Sometimes it's so bad that I'm literally lagging more than I'm stable. I've tried switching the modem, didn't help, tried different computers, nothing. I've also tried connecting to a different connection, more specifically, one that isn't running on Comcast in my area. No issues whatsoever. On top of all of this, the issue is present in all online games and it always starts and stops around the same exact time every night (from 8pm PST to 3 am PST). All of this points to Comcast being the issue. I've tried getting into contact with local support to no avail, as not only are they only available between 7 and 9 am, but even when I do try to get help, it takes so long that they end their support before I can reach them. I'm getting tired of troubleshooting, especially when it all seems to point to Comcast. And since I really can get no help from anybody, I'm considering just switching and cancelling my service. This is pretty much the last ditch effort here.
I would like to state that most people I've talked to, friends, family, etc have all stated that its most likely throttling in my area or damaged hardware nobody is willing to fix. According to my ping tests, the latter seems possible, but unlikely.
