Hi there,
I having been paying for Blast internet service for perhaps 1-2 years but my speed has been consistently 20-30/5-6mbps.
My modem is Motorola SB6120 which is supported up to Extreme 105 according to Comcast. I do have a router but the speed test results with and w/o the router are the similar. SpeedTest.net and Comcast's own speed test results are also similar.
I have worked with Comcast chat, and later a live call. They have asked me for the modem's MAC, S/N, and tried to refresh the modem a few times but no improvement. I read the Blast service should be able to reach 50/10mbps, and at least per Comcast web page my area seems to support up to Blast (as it requires me to login to recommend the services).
The lady I talked to said that it might be the modem has been in use for 3 years. She said replacing it with a new one, even if it's the same model, might actually solve my problem. I'm not sure if I should trust her word and invest a new router just to check this out. She also said, that dispatching a technican to my home to check might cost me $50 if they determine it's an issue with my modem.
An earlier lady on chat found that there are two packags on my account/bill: Blast and Performance. And she suspected that might be the issue. But the lady I talked to confirmed that Blast, not performance is on my account.
What can you recommend for me to fix this issue?
I live in Superior, CO close to Denver.
Thanks,
Jim
