Could xfinity cables be faster?

Hi,  Was moving some things around lately and had some wierd experiences.   I had an agressive electrician who offered to run my comcast cables in the wall.   I let him do that but I experienced about 1/2 (from 50 to 25) the download speed when measured by Speedtest.   I connected to another direct xfinity cable (a cable comcast installed with no extender, just straight into the comcast cable modem) and got back almost all of my performance.  I had a fiber optic line run from the street to my house and comcast has installed many coax cables to various locations around my house.  So I'm thinking that putting any kind of extender or final link coax cable on to an xfinity cable slows it down.  Is that possible?   I run my ethernet through my houses electrical wires with Netgear Powerline adaptors and that may have something to do with it too.   But has anyone else experienced adding final coax connectors or adding a short coax cable to get to the device slowing down internet speed?
