Right now I have a Arris TM602g DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem that was supplied by Comcast with my Triple Play service. Last year I had a LAN Party at my house and upgraded my internet service to Blast a month prior to be ready for it. Well now I recieved a letter that my internet service is eligible for an upgrade to Extreme 105 for no additional cost. Okay, awesome. I call the number on the sheet and talk to a guy who was setting me up. He checked my account and told me that my current cable modem doesn't support that service and I need to get a modem that's DOCSIS 3, and I can go to a service center and exchange mine, or have one shipped out to my house. I requested to have one shipped and was told it would take up to 5 business days. Well 7 later and still no modem. So I called to check the status and apparently none was sent. Curious about the compatability thing, I checked into the compatability of the Blast service and it doesn't even list my current modem. I did the speed test many times to get a average number. Note when I first had Comcast installed, the tech installed new wire from the pole outside to my tv and computer. That average number I got is 20mbps. I know they say "up" to 50. Before I upgraded to Blast, I was averaging 15. So I was like +5mbps, okay I guess. But now I'm thinking since last year I'm paying for a service that my modem isn't optimal for and I'm wasting my money. I was never sent a email or such to upgrade the modem. Anyone here that has Blast, what is your average download/upload speeds?
