Had a storm here in Nashville.- My cablem modem stopped working and would not even power on. I guess it got fried in the storm somehow. Bought a new motorola sb 6141. Called to have it provisioned and the first customer service person copied the mac address wrong. Finally, after several calls, got the correct Mac address. However, could not connect to the internent. The phone tech could not figure out why and scheduled service call. To make a long story short, it started to work, so cancelled the service call.
My problem now, is frequent 1-2 second disconnects. Sometimes every minute, and sometimes every hour. Enough to kicked me offline. I am connected directly to the modem, no wifi router.
Current readings from modem:
signal to noise ratio: 37 db
Downstream modulation: QAM256
Downstream Power level: -5, -6, -6, -6, -6, -5, -5 (dBmV)
Upstream power level: 51, 49, 51 (dBnV)
Upstream modulation 64QAM
My question: what to do to fix the frequent disconnects? The tier 1 phone techs wont help if I call, so should I just ask for someone to come out to the house?
I have deleted and reinstalled my network adapter, and turned off the power saving features. Tried everything I can think of or google.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration
