May 12 ... just 2 months ago ... started up Comcast upon moving to a new house. X1 has been a nightmare, but that is for another forum. The internet has been the bright spot, keeping me 'hooked on Com- Crack' like an addict. However, 3 nights ago, it started blinking on and off ... service drops out for a few minutes, then automagically comes back ... over and over and over! The funny part is when this happens, the X1 goes "dumb" also (meaning no buttons are acted upon like pause, guide, search, etc.) So obviously, when my modem goes out, it is because the "outside" network has taken a nap, since X1 can't reach the mother-ship either.
Until today, I was thinking it was isolated to the evening hours (after 8 pm) and I was sorta willing to blame the neighborhood kids and their gaming / porn activity, but it has started to creep into the daylight hours now. Looking at my modem, it is rebooting over and over again. Looking at another thread, one of my values (upstream power) is a tad high, but I have no idea if this is new or if it has always been this way.
What I don't understand is why Comcast has such a "touchy" service, and why I put up with it! Oh, yeah, I remember - no competition in this market unless I want "3 meg DSL".
I just wish there were options like I had in my previous location. When I get a free 3 hours to sit on hold, I'm going to call Comcast and get a tech out here to see what is going on, but this is sad - just sad.
