Upgraded service and now my internet speed is abominable

It seems like a lot of people are experiencing a similar problem and I have been dealing with this issue for several weeks now so we'll see if this can work at all.

I upgraded my service to the Comcast triple play in late June. Our last service had 25 mbps internet speeds and I believe the premium TV channels. Our upgrade was for 50 mbps, more channels, and a phone line. Not only have I not received 50 mbps, I haven't even been able to have consistent speeds of 25 mbps. I have had trouble streaming the simplest videos, Netflix is a disaster, and sometimes programs that require a internet connection idle out because the signal is that inconsistent. Throughout the course of the past month, I have spoken to a countless number of representatives that have tried to send a magic signal to my modem and assured me that it would be fixed. Sometimes, for the period that I was on the phone, my internet speeds would go faster and then a few hours after the conversation, they were back down. I've done speedtests through Comcast's website that showed me that I was not even able to get 10 mbps and times I had around 5 mbps.

I've had credits added to my account, I've talked to many people, and I was even supposed to have a technician come to my home on Friday but somehow managed to never call me, even though I responded to Comcast's automated message saying that I am home and waiting on the technician to come. He was supposed to check the modem and see if it was damaged. I called Comcast again and was given 3 mo. of a channel that I probably won't watch much of because the technician didn't arrive. I was supposed to get a call from a regional technician on Saturday morning to schedule a meeting this week but no one has called me.

I currently use the Gateway, since I upgraded to the triple play. Make and model # RNG150HD TG862G. I'm at loss of words of how tired I am with dealing with this issue. Its a lingering problem that I have to motivate myself to be able to stay on hold for thirty minutes, talk to a representative and know that my issue is being brushed off and not resolved. Why am I not getting the internet speeds that I am paying for? Why are my internet signals constantly fluctuating and at times, so slow that I am unable to connect to simple programs?

This post on the Comcast message board is a sort of last resort before I continue this endless cylce of calling, getting put on hold and transferred all over the place to ultimately have my problem continue. I would appreciate any help in finally correcting this problem. Thanks.
