For the past six months, I've had two modems on my account to separate two networks. One modem/network that is locked down for my personal computers and the other for a more public facing network such as my smart TV's and outside facing (DMZ) server that allows me to backup or retrieve my external facing devices.
Two weeks ago, one of my modems became disabled. I called Comcast to have it enabled to find that the other modem now became disabled. I went back and forth with this until last night when a tech final realized that there was a new boot file policy.
You apparently can no longer have two modems on one account because the modem boot file is associated to the account. You would think that it would be associated to the MAC but I guess this is a way to "control" their devies more efficently.
So now I'm informed that I must open another full-priced internet account which in the past has only cost me $8/mo for the second modem.
Does anyone have another solution?
