I have a Motorola SBG6580 on Firmware SBG6580-6.5.2.0-GA-06-077-NOSH. I have this weird issue where late at night, past midnight CST and sometimes during the day, the modem will randomly lose connection completely. The following is what is displayed in the event log (personal MAC removed):
DHCP failed - DHCP Solicit sent, No DHCP Advertise received;CM-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;CMTS-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;
Dhcp Renew Failed - Reinitialize MAC...
It has been doing this for awhile, and I've just dealt with it by doing something else in the meantime, but it's been getting really bad lately. I was fooling with it last night when it happened and was about at my wits end when I went to my Network page in Windows Explorer and right-clicked on the modem image and it had "Enable Internet Connection". So, I was like what the heck and hit it. It instantly turned my connection to the internet back on the modem (lights lit blue).
I was wondering what the cause of the modem turning its internet connection off. It may be my PC, but my partner was complaining of internet issues before I moved in with my desktop. Also, it's not only the desktop that loses connection. Every device loses connection to the internet. Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated.
