Re: Chicago - Slow / Unusable internet during peak hours

It's been getting progressively worse in the last few months, at least in my area (Chicago suburbs). During peak times (8pm-1am), it slows to a crawl down to 1-10mbps. I pay for 60mbps right now and the fact that this crops up at least 2-3 times a week is ridiculous. I don't expect to get the full 60mbps at all times, but 1-10mbps is inexcusable considering how much each tier costs. What's the point of paying for blast service when it slows down to a crawl for several hours each week? I've had a technician out in the last two months. They replaced the modem and ran tests on the Asus router I have, which was solid. I ruled out the router by doing a hard-wire from my computer and laptop via ethernet cable and there are still major problems during peak hours. They even tested the lines and replaced all of the wiring, but this still happens despite all that. Of course, we tested speeds in the morning and I was getting close to 60mbps, but later in the evening it slows down considerably again. It looks like Comcast simply oversold and can't keep up with the demand of all these folks on their network. There aren't many options in my area right now. DSL with AT&T is out of the question and Verizon Fios is not even offered here yet. I'm hoping they recognize that there's actually a real problem here and address it rather than having their customers run through mundane troubleshooting like resetting their modems/routers.
