I've been experiencing high packet loss for the past couple of weeks and I noticed that my downstream power levels have been going outside the acceptable ranges. On some days it is as low as -12 and -13 dBmV, while other days it will go above 10+ dBmV. I suspect this is the reason to my high packet loss and frequent time-outs. I'm not using a splitter, and the cable from the cable box to my modem is less then 10 feet long. When I tried putting a splitter on, just for testing purposes, the downstream power levels can go as low as -16 dBmV. There are days where my power levels are fine (close to 0) and I have no time-outs for the entire day, which allows me to actually broadcast on twitch properly. But there seems to be a pattern where one day its fine, the next its horrible, and repeating. Is there something Comcast can do on their end to fix this problem?
