Ubee DVM3203B sudden issues, need help/advice

Hey all,

So I have had this Ubee Docsis 3.0 with Blast for well over 2 years with hardly any issues. This is a rented modem from Comcast.

Thursday night here in the suburbs of Atlanta, the temperature dropped to single digits and the wind picked up. My internet seemingly got knocked out. Figuring it was an outside issue, I called Comcast and got a tech to come out this afternoon.

A half an hour before the tech got here, my modem all of a sudden picks up a signal, speed tests are fine, everything is cool. He comes and I tell him the issue I was having and that it had just came back online. He checked the box outside, removed an unneeded splitter, and said hey, who knows, at least it's working now. Few hours later, the thing goes out again. I have another appointment on Monday. This is all very frustrating.

So, he did a line test on the line right before the modem, and said signal strength was excellent. He mentioned that Ubee modems fail like this a lot of the time. What's happening is that, in the bootup sequence, the DS light gets a solid green, but the US light will continuously blink green, and the connection does not complete. When it comes back, it just comes back. The US light will come on, I'll get a connection, and then both DS and US lights will get a solid blue, indicating a bonded connection. Then it'll go out for another few hours/days.

Does this sound more like a modem issue, or a line issue? My internet has been out, with the exception of the 4 hours it worked this afternoon, since Thursday, and I would really hate to wait until Monday to get this resolved. Should I pick up a docsis 3 modem from Best Buy and try to replace it myself tomorrow?
