I had some blips on my service but I think most of it was due to area outages. Called tech support. They said I should upgrade my modem (said they will eventually upgrade everyone's equipment) and sent me a TECHNICOLOR tc8305c.
Haven't installed it yet, and everything's been rock solid--Internet connection and speed, and phone. And my network is fine with my Asus router.
Are there actually any benefits to the technicolor? I've read that people have issues with it. I'd have to put it into bridge mode, and I've read that a power outage or hard reset would put it back to bridge mode. Hassle.
So should I keep the Thomson? Will Comcast insist I keep the Technicolor? If they insist I "upgrade" is there an alternative internet/voice modem thst isn't a router? Will they let me buy my own?
