Recently switched from DSL to a Comcast bundle. Very happy with the higher speeds, but only when they actually work, which seems to be a lot less frequently than DSL.
Pretty much at least once a day every day since installing the Comcast cable modem, there has been complete loss of service on both internet and phone. The lights on the thing just blink and blink and pretty much never get to the online and phone lights coming on. Rarely, a power cycle or reset can restore things, but more often than not they do nothing. Sometimes the outages last maybe 5, 10 minutes, more often they can last hours, or even all night.
Returned the modem (Arris tm822g) hoping it was just defective. The one they gave us in return, claiming it was newer and better (Arris tm702g) seemed to be disconnecting even more than the first one, so we returned that one back the same day. They seemed shocked that we'd even been given that one at all, it was so old. So then they gave us an SMC SMCD3GNV. Great, except we already have a router and it's much better than the built in functions of this, so we had to go and call to get it switched into bridge mode. Fortunately the guy on the phone knew all about that and did it with no hassle.
But... still having the same connection issues as the first modem.
Here are the stats from the modem from where it is normally installed.

and here are the stats from another room closer to where the cable initially enters the house. This room is not practical for permanent installation of the modem as there are no phone jacks in that room with which to connect the phone service, and also the room it is normally installed, in addition to being one of the only ones with both cable and phone, has several devices that do not have wifi and need to be connected directly to the router via ethernet. So it was just a diagnostic step to put the modem in the other room to get another set of stats, it really can't be moved there full time.
