While playing Guild Wars 2 my connection is very unstable, I get frequent disconnects due to possible packet loss along with less frequent lag spikes that last several seconds, potentially disconnecting my game as well. I've jumped through all the hoops I can find to figure out whats going on. Ranging from setting up port forwards specifically for the game, enabling/disabling router options, removing the router all together, rebooting all devices frequently. Nothing works.
Lately I tried alternative means; playing the game while using proxies or ping reducing services. My game connection is pristine and I can stay connected until the game decides to kick me for being AFK for an hour straight. Since I can't afford to pay for premium pingblaster services, or what have you, I resort to using a public proxy which results in awful pings sometiems, but now I won't get disconnected from the raid I've been preparing for for the last 30+ minutes and feeling like tearing my hair out because of my apparent comcast issues.
With that said, I need some help troubleshooting this issue. I can play just fine using a proxy, but why use a proxy when I'm paying for premium comcast services? My ping is fine without the proxy, but I disconnect way too often to be able to play the game. I suspect it's a problem with a hop somewhere between me in New Jersey and the Guild Wars 2 servers in California.
