Disconnects every evening

We have been having our service get disconnected almost every night for the past couple of weeks. It seems to happen between 7 and 11 p.m.  

I usually try pinging Google's DNS server for this purpose: 8.8.8.8 and it'll time out with 100% packet loss.  

A tracert to the same address will usually only get as far as 10.0.0.1 but then it quits.  Sometimes it'll get to somewhere with around Cicero IL (at least that's my guess from the address name) and then quit.  I'll watch it try to do up to 30  hops with no result - it all times out.   Of course, now that I have a connection I can't get a copy of what it looks like when it quits.  The last time I meant to copy it and save it but forgot.

We do power cycle the modem and router which may help for a few minutes, but then it quits again.  We had some sort of update done a few weeks ago and this seems to have all started then.
