Moving to a new apt that is "Comcast-ready", can I simply use my old equipment?

I am moving in one week to a new apartment which is literally down the street. One week ago, I set up the move date for August 4th, the chat specialist told me they would send me a self-installation kit in a few days, and that was that. A few days pass and I don't have the self-installation kit. It turns out they sent the installation kit to the NEW apt (which makes no sense since I told the lady I wouldn't be moving for another 2 weeks). So of course the package got sent back.

I have tried THREE times chatting with Comcast support telling and once on the phone telling them to please send the self-installation kit to my current address, because I don't live at my new address and have no way of getting it from there. Each representative says something along the lines of "Sure, I changed it to be sent to your current address" and EVERY TIME when I check back the next day they say that the package is marked to be shipped to the address I'm moving to.

So at this point, I'm wondering if taking the Comcast modem I have now and plugging it in at my new apartment will work? Comcast does have the move on file for the correct date. The pervious tenants in the apartment that I am moving to had comcast.
