Internet Speed problems

I have upgraded to the blast internet, switched out my modem because tech support said it was bad. Called 4 times and spent my entire day working on this. I am still getting around 7-10mb internet speeds. I only have one jack in my living room so I run a splitter to run both my cable box and router. I have the newest comcast router. All they keep doing is resetting my router. Any ideas?
