I was told by Comcast that I would need a newer, faster modem to replace the one I am currently renting for $8 a month. On a chat, I was told they'd ship me the new modem along with packaging for sending them the old one. I got the box for shipping the old modem but not the new modem. Back on chat, this time with a different person, I got an apology and a promise to ship the new modem "with a one-time shipping charge of $9.98" I questioned this, as the shipping charge had not been mentioned on my first chat when I was told I would be sent the new upgraded modem. The second chat representative told me this was a system requirement and could not be waived.
So my question is - has everyone else been charged shipping for the new, faster modem Comcast said they needed?
