I'm baffled as I've been in touch with both comcast and netflix support. They each blame the other. My speeds are between 30mbps down and 50. I'm able to stream HD Youtube and HBO no problem. Last night, they were mid 40's and the best netflix resolution was 512x380 at 750kbps. Netflix support said since they utilize a "different port" via comcast, that port could be throttled. I've also been reading about the dispute between comcast (and other isp's) about letting netflix have direct access to the customers.
This morning I ran another speed test (51mbps) and was getting 1920 x 1080 at 5800kbps down. I've got a tech coming friday, but I'm not so sure this is a comcast issue, but rather a strain on netflix's servers during peak hours. Or is it a strain on comcast's infastructure, even though that strain doesn't affect speed? So clearly, during non peak hours comcast is sufficient to stream HD netflix content and my router offers enough throughput...but who's to blame?
Should I keep the comcast appointment?
