SB6182 Config File out there yet? T3/T4 timeout (SB6183 file pushed for Arris SB6182 modem)

Hi Folks,

Help with configuration files (.cm) and any potential connection with the classic T3 / T4 timeouts, modem resetting and consistent connection drop saga. A technician is coming out tomorrow to check it out but I am sure he would not know anything about config files and the possibility that comcast has not created a config file for this router because its not as popular or on their list.

When I checked my Arris Touchstone SB6182, DOCSIS 3.0 modem's page (198.162.100.1) the firmware was for correct model (SB6182-6.5.2.0-GA-05-98-NOSH), however the configuration file was for SB6183, a more popular model (d11_m_sb6183_performance2_c01.cm). The SB6182 is 8x4 channels while SB6183 is 16x4 channels. Do you folks think that having a wrong configuration file can elicit the kind of behavior I am seeing in terms of T3/T4 timeouts? I ask because the SNR and power for downstream channels has been in the recommended range and yet I am having consistent and frequent timeout / reset behavior. In addition, the log shows that config file initiates sw upgrade but errors out due to incompatible SW file (6183 firmware). Also, the comcast representative told me that my Arris Touchstone SB6182, DOCSIS 3.0 modem is END OF LIFE ! That made me realize probably this model is not in their system.

I would truly appreciate any help or guidance.

Thanks!

Erratic and unstable internet

I have been having internet issues over the past month. The down speed ranges from mid-30's all the way over 100. There is no rhyme or reason that I can see. Even when the speed is high, it takes a while to access websites. I am using a motorola sb6120 modem and an Apple Airport Extreme. The speed issues occur both in wireless and wired connections.

Please help.

Motorolla SB6141 Upstream issues

I have been in contact with online support from comcast, And my modem seems to be having issues "talking" back to comcasts headend, And i think it has something to do with my modems upstream  Upstream Signal to Noise Ratio, Because when i talked with the comcast rep online he told me my modem has been losing sync with comcast and that there was quite a bit of noise on one of the upstream channels so he switched it and reprovisioned my modem. But i still think theres some upstream specs i cannot see to troubleshoot my modem, I have asked support about it and they just go through there little script and ask me if i can do a speed test. So i did and the speed is fine i told them but they don't understand that its my modems upstream specs out of wack thats causing alot of issues. Possible noise because theres a lot of Uncorrectable codewords I'd just like for maybe an employee to check on my upstream specs the ones i can't see Upstream Signal to Noise Ratio, And Upstream Receive Power Because i keep getting  t3 and t4 timeout errors alot. The only reason i think it is an upstream issue is because, I play some games and i ping there server to check for packet loss there is none. This is happening on valves counter strike global offensive official servers, Also have Lost MDD timeout and DS partial service fallback errors in the logs. I appreciate any help in this matter.

Poor connection speed and interrupted service

Our connectivity and home service has degredated and constantly drops connections with week signal.  We have a motorola wi fi hub and also experience refresh rate delays on the tv service which is also comcast.  Speed checks shows 15 Mbps and 6 respectively which seems very slow'

why would this be so poor

I hate Xfinity. It drops my wifi connection all the time.

Dislike it very much. It is so slow.We moved from AT&T to Xfinity. We installed a new Xfinity modem and it is even worse. Drops internet connection, wouldn't come back even after multiple tries. If me and my son are on the internet at the same time, we are both struggling to get internet access. What kind of lousy service is this? I hate it.

Constant Internet connectivity drops due to voltage fluctuations - how do I fix this with Comcast?

Hello,

I have been experiencing ever since I moved into this house, about 7 years ago, problems with Comcast/Xfinity and Internet service that keeps coming up and down, now on a daily basis...

After countless support phone calls and technician visits we disconnected Comcast for a good offer with Uverse, which throughout the time of their service with us Uverse's Internet while slower was reliable. We decided to give Comcast another go thinking the problem may have been with equipment at the time a few months back, but the problem continues and no one can figure out why.

Each time a technian comes, checks the voltage throughout the house, makes changes to bring the signal to that sweet spot and leaves reassured the problem is fixed, however the problem will manifest itself again later on, maybe an hour, maybe 4 hours or maybe the next day. We have even had supervisors with 2 other crew members and they couldn't figure out the problem either.

Now I don't know where the problem is coming from exactly, that's what I need Comcast to figure out, but I'm pretty convinced that the root cause of the problem is a fluctuation of the signal's voltage that cannot be normalized over long periods of time and I'm hoping I can get someone to help me explain this to Comcast in a way they can 'understand' or at least pass onto their escalation technicians via a ticket.

Each time a tech has come he will 'fix' the issue as he sees it in that point in time, but when the voltage increases or decreases beyond that sweet spot we encounter Internet problems. Here's a good example, when the signal strenght is too high and the modem isn't able to connect after various attempts to reset it I only have to put an APC UPS in between the coax connections which drops the dB by 2. However if the signal is too weak, I have to remove the UPS and once again it works.

Before we cancelled we had cable TV in four rooms. Now we only have the Internet and nothing else hooks up to our modem.

How can I explain this to support? Has anyone else encounter something like this before? Where exactly can something like this originate from? ( they keep suggesting our modem SB6141 which is EOL based on their own assesment might be the problem - I'm in IT infrastructure manager, I know what EOL devices can and cannot do, sure the modem may be defective which is not in this case I know this, but don't tell me this issue is being caused by an EOL modem...No one else I know who has this modem has this issue!)

Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks!

Connection issues after "midnight maintenance"

Hi.

After you guys "comcast" had a maintenance perior from 12:00-06:00am, I keep have issues with getting disconnecting and being unable to reach the DNS server. Sometimes I've had to cold start my modem and router 3 or so times a day because of this.

New customer - doing self install. Does tech need to come switch something in the yard? Used to have Dish to Coax

I apologize if this is a dumb question. I tried googling it and searching this forum but didn't find an answer.  I also tried using comcast chat, but the window kept timing out and wouldn't let me submit my question.

So - I just ordered Xfinity internet last week.  I opted to go with the self-install kit, which I'm still waiting for.  I'm not sure, however, how the cable coming into my house gets Comcast feeding to it versus the Dish that I just cancelled a few weeks ago.  Seems in years past, a tech has had to come out and fiddle with stuff in the box in the yard, but Comcast didn't schedule anyone to do anything, to my knowledge.  Is this something I need to have them schedule?

Thanks,

Heidi

Restricted to browsing except youtube and facebook

I'm not sure if this has to do with the modem or my housemate's computer, but while he can connect to the internet he is restricted to only Youtube and Facebook. He can't even go onto CNN? He's tried disabling and removing his firewall thinking it might have been it, but still no go. The rest of us are able to browse without restriction to any site which is odd? So, just wondering if anyone has had this issue as well.

port 8080 (http) blocked

does anyone else having an issue with http, port 8080, being blocked? don't have a problem with https, just http. it has been going on for several weeks. resetting the router (provided by comcast) temporarly fixes the problem. typically corrects the issue for about an hour. thanks in advanced. weird problem.

BOOST INTERNET MEANS NOTHING.

WHY IS IT THAT AFTER SIGNING UP FOR " BOOST" INTERNET, THAT IT JUST MEANS A BOOST IN TRYING TO STAY CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET!

Poor connection to MLB.TV

I've noticed much slower connects to mlb.tv this season. I've had a subscription for years and haven't

experienced such slow connects and dropouts as this season.

Is COMCAST throttling MLB.tv?

secondary router or hub, facebook blocked

Regardless of whether I use a secondary router or just a dumb hub, I can connect to virtually any site except Facebook.
Obviously I checked to see if facebook was down by using the wifi and unhooking the cat5. The page loaded right up. back and forth, back and forth. If I use a wired connection through a router or hub behind the comcast modem it won't connect to facebook. ...

If it weren't for it being the only way I ever talk to my family I'd just say whatever and not use facebook, but.
