Unable to connect to internet. Modem appears to be fine.

I have been unable to get any of my devices (laptop and PS4) to connect to the internet. I have tried to connect both wirelessly and using a wired connection. I am using a surfboard 6141 modem and it indicates that it is setup properly and connected to the internet. Technicians at Comcast said that from their end, the modem is operating fine as well. I will also note that I was having the same issue when using a Netgear CM400 modem. Does anyone know what/why I may be having this issue and how to fix it?

I would be inclined to believe it's an issue with my devices except that it is happening to both of them, which would be quite a coincidence.

Same story. I suffered for 6 months, now (and it was my practical solution, but it requires lots of time and patience) I call "advanced wireless team" every time, and I mean literally every time it happens. When your account gets enough lines with complains about the same problem, they actually switch you to a different server. My observation shows direct relation between upcoming big holidays and corresponding sale and "connection problems" We have lowest tier of service, thus c-cast regularly creating problems to force upgrade to next level. Usually few hours of cursing, screaming and yelling do the job. BTW never agree for tech visit, they will try to charge you one way or another. If they convince you that boots on the ground are necessary - bring your modem outside with extension cord for power and ask him to make sure everything is nice and dandy at the ground block. They are responsible for outside wiring - not you.

Cannot access a website

I was able to access a website a few days ago (www.toadnetworkmc.com), but when I access it now, it won't work. I get a DNS error message, and it has been happening for a while.

I tried contacting ting the host for support, but they were unable to help. So, can anyone here help me?

Also, people with AT&T can access the site, but I can't. Can anyone else with XFINITY access it?

Thanks,

cable modem router remote update

I have the "performance" package but get nowhere near 50 Mbps. I want to see if I can update the modem/router but it has a battery backup and I understand that I have to go through Comcast and do it remotely...turning the modem/router on & off will not apply any updates if the settings remain the same...due to the backup batteries. Does anybody know how to do this? I logged into my account and fished around, but do not see anything I can click on that says "updates." Thanks

Unable to Start Service with Modem

I've been using the same modem with built in router for quite a few years now, and recently moved to a new location. Every time I moved to a new place, I was able to self-install just fine without the need for someone to come out and install it for me. However, I called customer service yesterday to start the service, he was unable to connect to my modem. He said the modem did not showed up on his side of the screen and therefore cannot send signal to it. It is very frustrating as this has not happened before. Is there something I can do to get this fixed without having to have someone come out from Comcast? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Video Streaming & Slow Internet Connection

I have had xfinity internet for a month now and have never had so many issues with the speed of my internet coupled with the amount of times something freezes while i am streaming video via netflix, hulu, ESPECIALLY xfinity tv online. What is the deal? I have an imac and a macbook pro and it plain stinks on both of these devices...should i be downloading something to make it work more smoothly? I have used chrome AND safari and they are both pretty bad. I even upgraded from 25 to 75 hoping that would fix the issue but there has been absolutely no change!! What do I do here? It is so frustrating to not be able to watch any video at all.

promotion was never honored billing was a rip off

Slow download speeds only during specific times of the day Mon-Fri?

I have noticed over the last several weeks the download speeds are clocking at 2.4 - 5.6~ but the upload speeds stay constant around 11.5~

The slow speeds only occur between the hours of 12noon~ to around 5-6p (Mon-Fri).  After those hours the speeds go back to 90+/- download with the upload speeds around 11.5~

I have replaced the Netgear modem to a C3700 and the laptop is hardwired from the modem.  I have cleared the cache many times, as well as, having Comcast tech support (on the phone) try and fix the issue.  They want a tech to come out for 50 bucks, but what doesn't make sense to me is why only during specific hours?

Using the Xfinity speed test I have started saving the URL after each test to confirm there is an issue only during those times.

Anybody have an idea?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Any advantage / need to enable ipv6?

Quick question,

I believe that ipv6 has been enabled for my area, but I've continued to run my network as ipv4-only (diabled ipv6 on my computer and Linksys router).

Is there an advantage (or need) to enable it now?  I'm assuming that most content providers continue to support both ipv4 and ipv6, and that there are few (if any) ipv6-only content providers.

Is there an advantage to enabling ipv6 at this time?

Thanks!

port 80 timeouts

i know there are at least a handful of customers experiencing this issue and no doubt many incoming calls but neither the customer nor the rep can pinpoint the details. is there any way we can get on the same page with this problem? having to reboot your router every 30 minutes obviously isn't the solution.

some details:

all port 80 requests timeout

port 80 (http) requests work after a router reboot (for roughly 30 minutes)

all other port requests complete successfully, i.e.,

 -can ping outside the router

 -can traceroute without any drops

 -dns resolves without any problems

-https and ftp works just fine

-http will work when using any port other than 80 (i.e. portquiz.net:81)

is the official solution to have comcast stop sending notifications to your network? i've seen this posted in previous posts. thanks for your time and hope to find a solution! :-)

FTP upload speeds DOWN

My speedtest show 90 down and 10 up.. .no problem

Starting a few days ago my FTP uploads have slowed down to about 2-3 mbps.

I have tried several different servers to make sure it was not a FTP server problem and the results are the same at all locations.

Could Comcast be slowing down FTP upload speeds intentially?

I have never seen this before.
