Online Gaming Is Horrible

I have no idea what is going on, but our network is constantly fluctuating from a full four bars, to as low as a half of a bar, even when we are not using our internet for online games. Around November of 2013, we had little to no problems at all. Now, all of a sudden, we can not play any of our games online without experience drastic lag. After emailing Activision, and Infinity Ward, they both said to contact to your ISP and find out what the problem is. When you play an online multiplayer game, it is best to play wired directly from the modem. However, we have had no issues until the past three months, which has almost rendered the ability to play games through the XBox 360 impossible.

I would not be so upset if it were not for the fact that you never know when your signal is going to drop off for no apparent reason. We have set the router ports to the correct setting, and still, there is constant drop off. It is like the modem is cycling, and it is beyond frustrating. We do not want to change ISP's, but at the same time, we can not continue to pay subscription fees to other companies (who have no bearing on the quality of connection) when our internet seems to work at 80%, then 30%, then back to 80%, before dropping to 55%, etc, etc, etc.... it is never the same. When we are playing games, and using Wi-Fi, we make sure to log our phones, tablets, ipads, etc, etc, off of the network, even though we should not have to.

What is going on, and if something changed in the past three months, please tell us so we know what to do. We are all beyond frustrated, as it is really, really irritating to be playing a game, run up to someone, and then, due to lag, be located back where you were before running up to them. Our internet has made nearly all of our games unplayable, even when we wire directly from the modem to the console.

Something is not right. Please, tell me what it is, and how we can fix it. If this is something that can not be fixed, then we must go through the process of finding a better ISP.
