Have there been signal issues in Chicagoland this week?

I'm in the northern Chicago suburbs (Libertyville, IL area), and starting this Tuesday, April 1, my connection has been garbage.

I pay for the highest speed possible ("xtreme" 105 Mbps), and Comcast speed tests are coming back in the range of 0.3 Mbps - 2.5 Mbps.

Tuesday night tech support said there was a signal quality issue.

Last night I couldn't even reach tech support. Customer retention didn't know what was going on.

A technician is scheduled to come out on Sunday, but I am at the point where I am ready to just cancel my service. I could tether to my 3G phone and get better connectivity than this.

I switched to Comcast cable because AT&T DSL couldn't resolve a persistent line issue. Service has been relatively stable the past six months.

I'm curious if there is a larger issue right now or some infrastructure problem in my local area. I have ruled out any hardware problems on my end.

I don't really trust the people I speak with on the phone. I have the impression they will tell you whatever they think you want to hear so they can move on to the next disgruntled customer.

Any "real" information would be greatly appreciated.
