I currently have the triple play and I'm using Xfinity branded Arris TG-862G modem for which I'm paying $8/month lease on it.
I have purchased a NON-XFINITY BRANDED Arris TG-862G modem recently and I'm having difficulties activating this modem to replace the current one that I have.
When I called it in, I was told that the system is giving out a "system logic error" message or something like that and the CSR I was talking to advised me to bring my modem to a service center and have it activated there. So today I went to a service center and after spending over an hour waiting and talking to a VERY RUDE customer service, I still walked out of the service center with my modem still not activated becasuse the system was giving out an error as well.
When I had asked why the system is giving out an error, I was told that it was because I didn't have the right kind of modem even though this modem is THE SAME model that Xfinity is using and IS LISTED on the list of approved devices as seen here: http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/ (#3.)
She also suggested that I remove my telephone service and STILL pay the same amount for service and to purchase a different kind of modem without eTMA and THEN I can finally have my modem activated. Seriously? What kind of suggestion was that?
What's my option here? I don't want to keep paying the $8/month lease and I have already purchased an approved modem and frankly, this is becoming quite a hassle on my end.
