Balancing Upstream and Downstream Power Levels

I've been having issues with my internet connectivity for the past several months now. I think I may have finally troubleshot it to what was causing the issue - a high upstream power level. It was always in and around the mid to high 40's dBmV. So, I bought an amplifier with Active Return Cable Modem Boost (the Motorolla BDA-K1-RA to be exact) to help lower the upstream power level. That fixed it, but unfortunately that made the downstream power level far too high. So, I bought some attenuators to help lower the downstream power level (I believe I have two -3db attenuators on it right now), but now for some reason while using that in combination with the amplifier, my upstream power level is hitting the 40's again. I've still had some disconnects while using these in combination, so it has to be either one or the other.

I've also noticed that since I've been using those two, my modem's upload light has been blinking, which I've read means that its trying to find bonded channels, which means its using more power, which means it'll power cycle the modem...?

I must be missing something here, and it's been incredibly frustrating trying to figure this all out. It seems every thing I try, there's just another obstacle blocking me from accomplishing my dream of having an actual stable internet connection.

Here's a screenshot I took of my levels. If anyone can make any kind of sense out of this, or has any kind of advice it would be much appreciated.
